Breakfast for justice

Falcon Heights Church is working with other area congregations to support a Saturday, April 7, breakfast for justice for Latino residents of New Brighton’s Oak Grove Mobile Home Park. This fundraising event will be from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 1660 W. County Road B, Roseville. We are recruiting volunteers to help with greeting, setup and cleanup.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targeted the Oak Grove community after residents organized to fight the park’s unjust business practices and held a public vigil in January. ICE has detained about 13 residents and five have already been deported. Others are in court proceedings.

Mobile home park residents organized the fundraiser to help pay legal defense costs. It includes an authentic Mexican breakfast and an opportunity to meet some of the residents and hear their stories. Please RSVP if you plan to attend the breakfast. More information: Breakfast fundraiser flyer
