Conversation with immigrants

Join other  volunteers from Falcon Heights Church who are helping adult English language learners at Fairview Community Center to practice their conversation skills. We meet every other Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:40 a.m. when the public schools are in session. Many immigrants and refugees are taking daily classes in English, but it is tremendously helpful for them to have a chance to talk with native English speakers in more informal conversational settings. We talk about everything from families to food to life in people’s native couintries and in America. The volunteers learn at least as much as our conversation partners!

Sunday faith education for kids

Sue Gramith has been leading faith education classes for our children for the last couple of years. On Sunday, July 23, she shared a heartfelt Moment for Mission about the satisfaction and spiritual growth she has experienced from nurturing and guiding these “sometimes silly, sometimes wild, but also loving and wise children” and getting to know their young families. And she extended an invitation to adults of all ages to take a risk and join her in this core ministry of Falcon Heights Church.

Please prayerfully consider becoming involved in our Sunday ministry with children, whether as a regular teacher or occasional helper. Speak to Sue if you are interested or have questions.

Sunday worship leaders

The members of the Worship Ministry Team want you! Each Sunday we need people to help with the following important roles:

Reader: Read scriptures and assist the pastor as needed with other reading during the service. Colleen will send you the reading ahead of time.

Greeter: Welcome people as they come in on Sunday morning.

Usher: Assist with seating people, handing out bulletins, receiving the offering, picking up after the service and turning off the lights.

Communion server: Serve Communion the first Sunday of the month. We’ll show you how.

If you can help, please sign up in the lobby or email or call the church office (office@falconheightsucc.org, 651-646-2681) and tell Colleen what you would like to do and when. Questions? Contact Margot Olsen at  651-646-2983 or margot@olsenfamilycircus.com.
