Earth Month 2022 action opportunities

April is Earth Month! We’re invited to join with Creation Justice Ministries and churches around the country in actions to promote climate justice and a healthier planet.

FHC’s climate action team is recommending three easy actions to start us out.

(1) Ask your senator now to support strong climate and conservation policy. In 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a historic bill with more than $550 billion in investment for clean energy, transportation, clean air and water, and climate resilience. But the legislation remains stalled in the Senate. Even if you’ve already called, your members need to hear from you again! Click here and follow the instructions to be connected with your Members of Congress.

(2) Join in an ecumenical Earth Day worship service, “Weathering the Storm,” on Friday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to noon Central Time. It’s a short service you can attend from anywhere. It will celebrate Earth Day, the Creator and all of creation. Register here

3) Take part in Ecumenical Advocacy Days, a virtual gathering of Christian advocates and activists April 25-27. We worship, delve deeply into the pressing issues of the day, and lift our voices by speaking truth to power on Capitol Hill. The theme for EAD 2022, “Fierce Urgency: Advancing Civil & Human Rights,” calls us into solidarity to restore, protect, and expand voting rights in the United States and to realize human rights around the world. Creation Justice Ministries is hosting the “Eco-Justice” Track. Register here for excellent workshops on climate justice, ocean conservation, and faithful advocacy.
