Executive Board approves parking lot, roof repairs

At its Aug. 15 meeting, FHC’s Executive Board approved a motion to retain Northwest Asphalt (the street contractors for the pavement management plan) for a “patch and smear” repair to the parking lot for $1,000.

The board also approved a motion to accept a bid from Peterson Brothers Roofing and getting that work done as soon as possible. The bid is for $15,500. There are many issues with the roof around the whole building, and keeping water out is likely the No. 1 priority. The board agreed to move the chimney repair to 2024 instead of 2023.

In other business, the board:

  • Heard from Patti Hoffman regarding the successful children’s camp in June, planning for next year, the need for more volunteer or staff labor, and other issues.
  • Discussed the need to determine how much clear or hard funding exists for 2024 property improvements, the need to come up with a number to inform the 2024 budget, the need for long-term planning about how much money might be needed for future property improvements, and efforts to obtain such funds. A tentative brainstorm item was added to the September agenda. Efforts are underway to find a working group to discuss those issues this fall, with the group’s work to be completed by the end of the year or shortly after a long working session.
