One of the best ways to establish close connections at church is to become part of a small group of people who share one or more interests or passions. You can do this as a member of any of our ministry teams and our governance board!

The Nominations Committee will soon be contacting members and friends of FHC to talk with you about joining in our work and vision as we begin to emerge from the pandemic. Please prayerfully consider stepping forward now and volunteering before you’re asked! Many opportunities are available, but three priority needs are the moderator-elect, treasurer, and Children’s Ministry Team.

Moderator-elect

The moderator-elect is a one-year officer position on the Executive Board, with the commitment for a second consecutive year to serve as the moderator. This is a role where you can really make a difference. Although it’s serious business, there’s also a sense of excitement in laying out plans for our future and all we can do together as a church.

The Board typically meets monthly. The moderator-elect also meets once a month with the moderator and pastor to plan for the Executive Board meeting. The focus of all positions on the Executive Board is governance and long-term planning for Falcon Heights Church.

Treasurer

Our longtime treasurer is hoping to replace himself with someone who can bring fresh eyes to the church finances. Assistant treasurer Patti Holmes is doing a great job handling much of the day-to-day transactions for the church; you too can make a great impact on the life of the church, not to mention saving many thousands of dollars required to outsource the function. While it does take some effort, you don’t need a background in finance, just an interest in learning. We have good software that allows most of the work to be done from home, a procedures manual to step through activities, and of course, training and support from outgoing treasurer Dave Hill. Children’s Ministry Team

People with a passion for today’s children are needed for this essential team. Its focus is on faith formation for the children of the church, but it will also get you involved in fun all-church activities. Besides the chance to interact with some terrific kids, this is also a great way to get to know other adult members. Contact Carol Meeter ([email protected]) for more information.

The team’s work has typically involved determining how to group children into classes, finding curriculum, and recruiting volunteers to lead classes. In non-COVID years, we coordinate with the Adult/Intergenerational Ministry Team to plan periodic Super Sunday events and recruit volunteers to lead the activities. The team also collaborates with other ministry teams on activities such as the Mardi Gras party and all-church potlucks.
