Adult faith formation: the Great Migration
Millions of black Americans migrated from the south to the north in the 20th century. This Great Migration was like a refugee movement we would see today—but within one country’s borders.
Join us during adult First Hour faith formation at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, to discuss Krista Tippett’s “On Being” podcast on this timely topic.
Tippett talks with journalist and author Isabel Wilkerson. Wilkerson’s book “The Warmth of Other Suns” chronicles the migration and the lives of the people who took part in it.
We will play the first 15 minutes of the podcast to set the stage. However, we recommend people listen to it beforehand or read the transcript if possible. Go to the podcast page
In February, our adult First Hour theme will be hospitality and welcoming.
- On Feb. 4 Rev. Rick King will discuss what the scriptures say about hospitality.
- We’ll have an all-ages Super Sunday service project Feb. 11.
- On Feb. 25 we’ll discuss becoming a welcoming community with Do Good Roseville. (There is no First Hour Feb. 18.) All adults are invited to join in.
