Holy Week at FHC
March 24: Palm Sunday worship
Join us for Palm Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m., either in person in our sanctuary or online via our YouTube livestream. Guest organist Christina Werling will provide music. This is the first of a series of five dates when we’ll have pipe organ music in worship, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.
March 28: Maundy Thursday volunteers needed
Falcon Heights Church will observe Maundy Thursday with our traditional Service of Tenebrae Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m. The service recalls both the institution of the Lord’s Supper (Communion), and Jesus’ arrest and trial in the Garden of Gethsemane as well as the disciples’ betrayal and denial of him. Rev. Cynthia Riggin, associate minister of Macalester Plymouth United Church, will join Rev. Rick at the Communion table in a reciprocal arrangement between the two churches (see below).
We need your help to make this a memorable evening for everyone. We need scripture readers, as well as people to help set up and coordinate lighting. Setup will be Wednesday, March 27, at 5:30 p.m., with a rehearsal and run-through at 6:30 p.m. Please contact Kyle Roeckeman at [email protected] to sign up or for more information.
March 29: Good Friday at Macalester Plymouth Church
Our church and St. Anthony Park UCC have been invited to a 6 p.m. soup supper and 7 p.m. Good Friday service at Macalester Plymouth United Church in St. Paul. The contemplative service includes a candlelight ritual, prayer, and singing. The Macalester Plymouth Chancel Choir will sing the “Responsories for the Offices of Tenebrae” by Healey Willan. Rev. Rick and Rev. Victoria Wilgocki of SAPUCC will have guest leadership roles in the service.
(Since FHC does not hold a formal Good Friday service, and since Macalester Plymouth has no Maundy Thursday service, a reciprocal invitation has been extended to their congregation and to Rev. Riggin on Thursday.)
Macalester Plymouth is at 1658 Lincoln Ave., St. Paul 55105. Parking is in the lot south of the church next to Macalester College.
March 31: Easter Sunday
An Easter Breakfast will be served from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.; all donations support Youth Group mission activities. Then, festive worship at 10:30 a.m.! Our Easter offering will benefit Holy Hammers.
