Host homeless families
Help host homeless families for the Project Home Emergency Shelter at New Life Presbyterian Church, 965 W. Larpenteur in Roseville.
Each night in April, New Life hosts a family homeless shelter at the church at Victoria and Larpenteur. We serve up to 20 guests, all families with children, who are temporarily without housing. The Project Home staff screens the families, who come by bus from the Family Center day shelter in downtown St. Paul. This is New Life’s ninth year. Members of Falcon Heights Church have participated in the past.
- Evening Hosts (5:30-8:30 p.m.) greet guest families (along with Project Home staff), serve an evening snack (provided), chat with guests and play with children.
- Overnight Hosts (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.; until 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday) help families settle for the night, spend the night in a separate sleeping area (beds provided), serve a light breakfast (provided) and tidy up the space.
- Training is provided online, in print or in person.
- Children and youth are encouraged to serve as hosts alongside their parents or guardians.
