House building in Vietnam and Minnesota
You think house building in Minnesota is a challenge? Wait until you hear from Terra and Erica Lumley about building homes in South Vietnam!
Come to First Hour on Sunday, March 22, at 9:15 a.m. to hear from Terra and Erica about the homes they helped build in 2018 in Dong Thop Province in South Vietnam. The work was part of a Thrivent Big Build. Over 200 volunteers from New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, Vietnam and the U.S. joined to build 22 homes in just one week. Terra and Erica worked on two homes with other TCHFH (Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity) staff. Their goal was not to finish the homes, but to finish all the walls and floors.
Terra has been working for Habitat for Humanity for the past 21 years. She has been our supervisor with the Holy Hammers coalition for the past three years. She will again lead the build this year in St. Paul. Her spouse, Erica, is a marriage and family therapist and works for NW Passage in Frederic, Wisconsin, near their small farm. They have two children. Please come and welcome the whole family to Falcon Heights!
Want to help with our build this year? The foundation is in and we are recruiting volunteers NOW! Your help is needed to make a house a home for a well deserving family. We have slots open on April 24 and May 7 and 13. To sign up, contact Lynne Meyer at [email protected].
