The first Sunday of Advent this year is Dec. 3. Our theme will be SIGNS. There are also Advent opportunities for all ages.

Lighting the Advent candle each Sunday

Join us each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. as we light the Advent candle and celebrate its themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. We will sing the Advent song “When God is a Child” each week and hear a short reading as we light the candle.

Advent opportunity: If you and a friend or family member would like to light the candle and do the short readings on one of these Sundays, please contact the church office ([email protected] or 651-646-2681) with the week you are available:

• First Sunday of Advent, Dec. 3: HOPE
• Second Sunday, Dec. 10: PEACE
• Third Sunday, Dec. 17: JOY
• Fourth Sunday, Dec. 24: LOVE

Christmas Creche

The children will have an Advent opportunity to help us set up our Christmas Creche by bringing up one or two of the figures each Sunday during worship. We will talk about these characters and why they were there when Jesus was born.

The creche set we are using was given to the church by Dixie Hull, a faithful servant and teacher, who worked with the young and the “Young at Heart” at FHC for many years. They were carved and hand-painted and used in many Advents over the years.
